Paul Bonnard (Rossano Brazzi), reading his father's diaries and listening to the adventures he experienced, sets out on a journey to find his father's bones lost in the Sahara desert and to discover the lost city of Ophir, filled with mysterious treasures written in the diaries. For this purpose, he goes to Africa, to Timbuktu.
His goal is to go from a place that no one has ever thought of passing through, the Sahara Desert. For this, his paths intersect with Joe January (John Wayne), a guide who knows the Sahara Desert like the back of his hand. Of course, there will be one more person joining them later.
